- DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: for normal adult, 10mg is orally administered once a day as rabeprazole sodium. It can be orally given 20mg once a day depending on the symptom. For common gastric ulcer, it is administered up to 8 weeks, 6 weeks for duodenal ulcer.
Diffuse or ulcerative GERD: 10 mg or 20 mg is given once a day for 4 ∼ 8 weeks. If not treated after 8 weeks of proton pump inhibitor(PPI) treatment, supplementary administration of 10mg or 20mg can be given twice a day for 8 weeks. However, administration of 20mg twice a day is only for patient with severe mucosal damage.
Alleviation of GERD: 10mg is given once a day. If the symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks of therapy, further work up is necessary. Once the symptoms are gone, on-demand therapy that administers 10 mg once a day if necessary is to be used to control symptoms afterwards.
Long-term maintenance therapy of GERD: 10 mg or 20 mg is given orally depending on the patient.
Helicobacter pylori eradication : Patients infected with Helicobacter pylori should be treated with eradication therapy. Combined medication of 20 mg of this drug, 500 mg of clarithromycin, and 1g of amoxicillin twice a day for a week is recommended.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome : Recommended intial dosage for adult is 60 mg once a day. Dosage can be controlled up to 120 mg a day, depending on the need of individual patient. Daily dosage of 100 mg is probable, with the 120 mg given in two-time dosage of 60 mg. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome patients have experience of taking the drug up to 1 year.
- Patient with liver disease
Hepatic encephalopathy has been found in liver cirrhosis patients. Therefore it must be prescribed with caution.
- Child
Sefety for child has not been established yet.
- Elderly
As hepatic function is depressed in many cases, it must be prescribed with caution.
